The Buffalo Bills came into week 15 with 44 sacks on the season and that was good enough for 1st place in the league. An additional not is that they have well surpassed their total from last year, 36.
The Bills were able to come away with 5 sacks against the Jacksonville Jaguars and are now sitting with 49, just 1 away from tying their season record of 50 from back in 1964 where they played 14 games.
The Bills still have the Dolphins and the Patriots remaining in their schedule. Both of these teams fall in the bottom half of the league for sacks allowed. The Bills will have a great shot at beating their own season record for sacks.
I believe that the Buffalo Bills will finish the season with 55+ sacks on the season.
The 1984 Chicago Bears hold the NFL record for sacks in a season with 72. The sack stat was not officially kept track of until 1982. Buffalo’s best sack season since the stat was started to be tracked was 49 during the years of 1995 and 2013.
